Default Correct Bilsteins for 86 base

So my car came with the black Delcos which are now 31 years old. Miles are low at 34k, but the shocks are toast! So for a car that never had the Bilsteins to begin with, are these correct?

Front- 24-002288 B6
Rear- 24-192927 4600 Series

TireRack has them for $320.00 shipped which seems to be about as low as I can find.

I guess what Im needing to know is if these are the correct ones for a car that never had them to begin with. Will they play nice with the springs on my 86?

Yes. They are the right shocks for your car and will "play nice with your springs".

They are the Bilstein shocks they recommend for the base suspension cars.

That being said, I prefer a firmer ride, so I like the Z51 shocks better. But each to their own depending on how they want to set up their car.

I have had Bilsteins on a bunch of cars and have been pleased with the performance on all of them. Also they last a long time. They are by far my favorite brand for shocks.

Good luck.

OP - I believe that the only thing you need to be concerned with is the "Warranty" provisions by both the vendor and Bilstein. I believe that "proof of purchase" from someone other than a Bilstein approved reseller can be denied.

I might be concerned with a "drop-ship" from the reseller/vendor from anyone other than Bilstein directly.

I just researched this myself, at the popular Corvette houses the bilstein that fit your car are referred to as HD.

The B6 or HD are for the non Z51 cars.

The B8 or SP are for the Z51 cars.

In practice either shock will fit either car.
The Bilstein Z51 advertising says it will work with lowered cars also, but in the specs there is not much difference. When I looked at them for my '95 (which is the later C4 suspension) The rears were the same for both B6 and B8 at 9.61" / 14.69" length compressed / extended. The fronts were the same extended at 13.56" but the compressed length was 10.18" (B6) vs. 9.43" (B8). So the only difference in length is on the front shocks fully compressed length the B8 can go 0.75" lower. The damping rates were stiffer on the B8 than the B6.

TireRack has them for $320.00 shipped which seems to be about as low as I can find.
Yes those are the correct part numbers for the 1986 base.

AJUSA.com has them for $297.72 plus tax with free 2-day shipping. For the 1986 base Corvette:

Got some for my 1995 last week and installed them last weekend.
