LT1 cam question
I just got a 94 Z28 for a driver. Both heads are cracked from overheating. I am currently looking for some used heads, but am thinking of putting a cam in while its apart. I want good drivability and don't want to mess with the computer. Any suggestions? No internal mods will be done. Car is an auto w/3.23 gears. Basic mods only- exhaust/stat/programmer/cold air intake, etc.

The LT4 Hot Cam is fairly mild and will work with a stock computer. Naturally it will perform better with a program but it will work. Actually though I just thought, if your car is an auto I don't know how the Hot Cam will idle with the stock program.... It really seems to prefer a manual.

The ZZ3/4 cam is great with an auto trans, lot's of low end torque cam, even with the stock converter. The Impala guys really like it. Just happened to have one for my Impala, haven't installed it yet. A couple other choices for an auto trans LT1 are the Comp Cams 304 and the Crane 227.
