Default 219 in a stocker?

Guys what kind of gains do you think a 219 cam would make in a stock engine. I know the flow and stuff is gonna hurt it. Just looking for what positive gains you would see.

Thanks.

Default 219

Not too sure on this one. It'd be interesting to see. chucks88 asked what a super ram would do on a stock engine.?? I'd think a 219 AND a super ram with some rockers and a little tuning wouldn't be a bad thing...if the $ was there to do so.

I would imagine it would be comprable to the individual that just install a Hot Cam with no other mods. The lift etc is more than the stock cam. Granted the intake sucks, but look at the Hotcam users..

PS JD do you want to come to PA and Zaino my car?

Hurt? NFW. You would definitely feel a difference, but it certainly wouldn't be as effective as it would with the heads done, and a better intake. You have to remove the intake anyway to do the cam. TPI's are a pain to R&R. so IMO, if you can swing the dough, do the intake and the heads.

By a better intake, would my Custum Ram Air, Modified MAF, K&N, Open Lid, Air Foil, and Hogged out plennum be sufficient or do you mean Super Ram

I Think what he is saying is YES the cam would make a difference, as I suspected. Now the gain obviously will not be as good as with heads and SR. Obviously. Then the other obvious thing. If your down in there, and CAN swing the money, do the intake, etc. Yes your mods will help, but not to the extent that the SR will.

Just think of your engine as an Air pump, that is what it is. The more air the more go. If you pick up 10% more air then it will definately help. You may pick up more....not sure.

There is only one way to know for sure.... :D

I think the 211/219 would be a better choice over the 219/219, especially on a stock motor.
The 211 is the cam Lingenfelter recomended on my LTR 383.

In his catalog he shows this:
SBC 305-383 LT1/L98 (induction type) 211/219(@.050) .499/.525(lift 1.5)
SBC 305-420 LT1/L98 213/219 .462/.471
SBC 350-420 SuperRam 219/219 .525/.525

Hope that helps you out!
