Default Crossfire intake gasket

I installed the Renegade intake on my 84, the instructions recommend Fel-Pro 1205, the original gasket and the regular Fel-Pro have the back water passages blocked and the performance one are not, any concerns installing the gasket with all ports open? Also the shop manual says to use rtv for the valve covers, I want to use rubber gaskets, what is better?

You need the back passages to be open when using the renegade, see the back heater hose connection in the picture.
The original cfi intake had a coolant channel that went under the length of the intake to feed that heater hose.

That Renegade looks very nice, is it the polished version? Mine looks kind of rough but I just hope it does what is advertised to do. Is anybody on the forum doing the throttle body enlargement? Also I need to know if rubber valve cover gaskets is a good idea instead of rtv.

That's not my intake, I took matters into my own hands way before the renegade was even thought of.
I'd use gaskets for the valve covers.

So the Renegade has no way to get the bubbles out of the back of the drivers side head?? The heater is fed from the pass. side head only??

The original CFI manifold flows coolant from the back of BOTH heads to purge bubbles from the heads and to feed the heater core.

I agree on using the gaskets for the valve covers, but you may need longer mounting bolts. Check the depth of the bolt holes in your heads and select new bolts that won't bottom out in the holes. "Flange head" bolts work the best on the magnesium covers!

The original intake gaskets had closed rear coolant ports with a small hole to bleed air out.
