Sure would like to know if anyone here has installed aftermarket paddle shifters in a C4. Doing HPDE days in my 383 and gear selection by foot mash to the floor causes much looseness in back end. And yes thanks I have seen the drawing someone kindly posted about putting notches in gear selector. Drawback with that is that at hi speed you can't hear teh click. I guess I could run a little battery operated mic next to shifter and have ear piece in my ear. But that might be an option.
If you ditch the 700r4 and install a 4l60e you can get the electronics for paddle shifters.Because of the ls engine trend there is a lot more aftermarket support for the 4l60e.Basically a updated 700r4 with a fully electronic valve body.

THat might cost what the car is worth I would think and I still would not have rev matching. Does the updated trans prevent downshift if engine revs are too hi?
I kind of like the car cause it feels about as fast as my C7 to about 60MPH
Anything is possible with the correct amount of money. The question is how much you love the car. Also the 4l60e will probably need some internal parts upgrades to handle the forced downshifting load .The 4l60e has been out for more than 20 years. The early versions were used behind the middle 90's lt1 engines and have a standard sbc bellhousing pattern.Trans should be a bolt in with proper parts. It will need a stand alone ecm to run it plus some wiring work.Any project like this will depend on the skill of the installer and the correct parts choice.
It is not that hard to convert a 4L60E to 4L65/4L70E specs. The parts swap right in. There are plenty of magazine article builds that you can find with Google that document the upgrade. These trans can be made to handle 1000 hp with the proper aftermarket parts, such as 5 sprag planetaries, The Beast or other sunshell, etc.
Summit Racing also has a the parts for a paddle shifter
do a Google search on tci paddle shifter kit and on TCI transmission control unit
here are some of the articles I have found on building the 4l60E. there is also conversion to change the 1st gear ratio so there is not so much of a rpm drop between 1st and 2nd
