Does anybody know of a cheap cowl hood or a hi rise that would raise the clearence under the hood a couple of inches that does not cost $1100?
Any new hood is going to be in the $1,000 + range.
Your best bet is to go to a Fiberglass repair place(aka Boat repair), and ask them how much it would be to raise your stock hood a few inches, or graft on one of Summit racing or Jeg's cowls.
I've always like those big teardrops with the chicken wire over the intake holes...Mounted backwards (chicken wire towards windshield)...
They looked really bitchin' on a '57 Chevy...Back in 1967... :D
I haven't seen any hoods with clearance bumps, but there have been a couple guys here on this Forum that have grafted the high-rise "wedge" onto their hoods...A Search should turn up some nice pics...
I used it to get enough clearance on my 1985 vette to install a stealth ram EFI intake (its about 1.5" taller than stock) cost is about $250 plus about $75 to bond it CORRECTLY to the hood, and the time to cut out that rectangle area under your hood and what ever you pay to repaint
Thanks for the help but I'm just looking for a piece that would go on top of my regular hood that I could put on and cut the original so I could have extra clearence.
What's the process to put this scoop on???
So far I have BIG hole in the middle of my hood and fiber glass scoop waiting to be install, but no one wants to do it at $200.

My wife works at a body shop so maybe I got a disscount
They said it would cost, of the street about $350 to bond on the hood scoop
They drilled several holes under the mounting flange of the scoop laid down a bead of some kind of two part epoxy for bonding fiberglass set the scoop ontop allowed to set up some and rough sanded the rough edges. used more epoxy to blend the scoop to the hood, set up and sand again Blend and sand again. till they finished then primed the hood.
hope this helps some

Is the Website http://www.up22.com because that one does'nt work? Plus if you cut the section of the hood and raised it did you create a mold and filled the mold with epoxy?
Yes up22 is the web site. The cowl scoop is for a late model mustang It was listed on their scoops page one part #sc-328 it is 2.25" high and just covers the stock hood buldge. I left the stock hood intack and cut a hole for the air cleaner to pass thru, I will later seal the air cleaner to the bottom of the hood to make a true cowl induction air intake. I use a performer RPM intake with a 1" spacer and a drop base air cleaner and it just clears the underside of the scoop.
Have fun
