Sounds like a diesel
The car has a sever ping even under light throttle, most of the time I can never make it to full throttle in fear of what might happen. I have exhausted every possible I can think that would be causing this. The car is basically stock. No trouble codes are ever set and on a blue moon the car will drive great but normally in the morning.
1. Fuel Pressure - Good, checked while driving, no drop.
2. Ignition - full tune up, cap rotor, wires, plugs, distributor gear.
3. Knock sensor - Replaced
4. ESC - Substituted a different one, no change
5. EGR valve - was bad, replaced.
6. All possible vacuum leaks checked and repaired.
7. Two ground locations cleaned, block and transmission.
8. Timing chain - replaced
9. Different gas and octane - no difference
10. Exhaust pressure - acceptable 1p.s.i.
11. Throttle position sensor - checked with analog ohmmeter, smooth no dead spots.
12. Injectors - all 14 - 16 ohms.
That is a short list of things I have addressed in an attempt to solve this problem. One thing that concerns me but I do not have another car to compare it to is; when at an idle and you manually move the throttle position sensor I would expect the car to flood and die, this one does not the RPM simply raises about 1000. On an 85 Z28 I had with TPI if you barley touched that sensor you would hear the injectors speed up and the car would die. Is it possible that the injectors are bad I'm a little gun shy to go out and spend the money for new injectors until I can prove they are the problem.
This is a great forum and thanks for any help you can give.
I appreciate the suggestion. I would love to get this figured out it's driving me crazy.
