The heavy-duty brakes will have 13" rotors. Standard brakes use a 11.5" front rotor.

If I remember correctly, only cars with the Z51 handling package had the HD brakes in 1988. The base model and Z52 package which mine is, had the 11.5 front rotor, but I am not 100%. Also not sure if yours are original equipment or aftermarket.

The HD brakes have 2 piston calipers. The standard brakes have single piston calipers.

NO!

'84 thru '87 single piston

'88+ all are 2 piston fronts and they're the same size piston. The pads are the same. Caliper "throat" is increased for rotor thickness and the bracket/abutment is different to accommodate the larger diameter.

In '88 HD brakes were included with FE7 - No FE7 there wouldn't have been larger brakes unless added.

In '89 JL9 and J55 became brake RPO options.
