Default No Tach. reading on cluster

Started my fresh motor today for the first the time. First, didn't want to idle at first so I bumped the idle up a little, but I noticed that I do not have a tach reading. I think my idle problem maybe caused by the 2034 compcam and the 1:6 rockers on a stock eprom, I think??? As I let the car run only for a short while (just running shorties) I noticed I have no tach reading. The cluster is reading fine during it's self diagnostic check during start-up. I checked the tach connection on the distributor and it seemed fine. Where else can I check...also will the 2034 run on the stock chip?

Thanks for your help

Is this the 88? You might of forgotten to plug the tach filter/lead back into the ECM, or possibly you pinched the lead?

Hey scorp, thanks for the reply, is this the same lead the connects to the distributor in the tach location?

Correct. It goes distributor ---> Tach Filter ----> ECM

The tach filter is mounted on a little aluminum tab on the upper/left bellhousing bolt.

scorp,
as far as the tach filter, you must be referring to the capacitor that is mounted to the bell housing. I may have gotten it pinched, because for some reason that wire gave me the most trouble trying to mount. What plug does the tach connect to the ECM?
