New Member and new 1987 convertible owner. Rear view mirror very loose and shaky. Read some posts that suggest periodic re-tightning. Not working. Any suggestions on where to find instructions on how to replace/repair and what parts would be needed. Thanks.
I will tell you my fix but caution if you put a leather glove on and push the middle of the mirror straight in it may connect again. I pulled my mirror off and it reveals a 12-6 connection and a 3-9 connector that snaps in. I had a wobbly mirror but by pressing it it is not wobbly anymore. Good Luck
It would help to know if it's the windshield mirror or one on the doors.
If a door, if you tilt the mirror down, there's also a screw IIRC that can come loose in addition to the cross bar adjusters.

Thank you both for replying. I need to be more accurate in the future. It is the windshield and it is the bracket that attaches to the windshield or a part on the windshield. This bracket is very loose where it attaches.
Mine is held on by an phillips head screw. If the hole is wallowed out then you either need to build it up or replace it. maybe take the mirror off and put a little JB Weld in the hole to give the screw something to bite into. Another option might be to get a newer mirror and the bracket the glues onto the glass and swap out yours. There's an adhesive that glues the bracket onto the glass. I've used it before and got it at NAPA, worked out well on that repair.

Thanks. The hole must be wallowed out - will try some JB Weld and hope the screw can be tightened firmly.
