interesting, two different responses. I suspect that the early c4's from the factory they were actually push pins. ( I believe Cliff has an 86, and that is the year I am working on as well. )
Maybe they changed later on in the years?
i did have an 85 that had a nut force threadded onto it.
Those are not threads. They are parallel grooves. A push clip goes on the rod and locks into one of the grooves:
I have an 86 and that's what I have. Planning on replacing the visors and so far have not been able to get anything under it to pry them loose. I'm thinking I may have to cut them to get the old ones off, unless there's an easier way, which I have yet to find.

If you push in one or maybe two of those tangs with a small screwdriver, you can take that off, then just push the tangs back in place and it will hold the new sunvisor in place (if you haven't bought new pushnut caps). I use a very small socket so it just fits the visor stud and tap in the pushnut with it. Not too far, you want the spring to do it's job. If you break one of the tangs, just buy a small pushnut and put that on top of the cap.
Note...when I install new sunvisors, I always replace the spring and cap-pushnut.
