Hey there, I'm new to corvettes and I just picked up my first 89 a few days ago. I'm not sure if the two issues are related(probably not) but I have had no battery issues and out of no where my battery died after being in the store for 5 minutes. After I got it jumped and drove it home my throttle seemed to just stop responding. If you just lightly press on the gas the car will take off but after you push the throttle more than a few CM it cuts out and stops reving up. It isn't the cable as I have tried gassing in straight from the throttle body. Any ideas on what to check would be much appreciated.also after driving it home my battery was still dead.
Take the battery out and charge it overnight on a slow charge first. Have it tested and see if that works. Till then, I don't know what else we can do besides checking the alternator at a rebuild shop and not the Autozones. I'd state in my profile your location so someone close by can help you maybe.

Okay I'll do that tonight, the throttle issue wouldn't be related to that though, would it?

You don't have a fly by wire throttle. You have a mechanical throttle so I doubt it. Still, lets check the charging and battery first before we go anywhere else.
If you check your charging by switching the lever to see amps. It should read 13.6 ish to 14.5 ish when running. That would mean your alternator was charging. Sometimes a seller will leave the car for a long period then jump it but the battery will not hold a good charge anymore. I agree with the battery check and dont forget to clean the connectors.

Thanks I'm gonna take the battery out tonight and charge it, then after work I'll put it back in and clean the connectors.
