Default Power steering pump rebuild

Ive removed snap ring and seal for shaft side of ps pump, but i t won't came out...

Or it moves (shaft and ball bearing) about 1/4" back and four but it won't came completely out...

I've two ideas

1.a puller is required?

Or

2. There's need two remove the ring on the backside...

Who already done this work?

There is a How To video on superchevy.com. I bought a re-manufactured one as I don't the proper tools to do that job. You probably already know what a pain it was to remove.

I just did this on my 85. O-ring on the back was leaking. got the AC delco rebuild kit for $10. I followed the super chevy guide and didn't have any real problems or difficulties. Shaft seal was a pain to get out though.

I don't see anything in your pictures that looks bad, but the pictures are fuzzy. If the "vane" area doesn't look worn, and the bearing is smooth and the bearing seal undamaged that's really good. I would make sure the shaft part that spins in the shaft seal is smooth/not worn or that may leak immediately.

Just make sure you pay attention to the part about not making the pump, pump backwards, thought that was a funny note.

There are things that i'm worried about

Shaft theets looks like worn

The little bearing in the bottom. Is it provided in rebuilding kit? I don't know but seems no.

All the seals you mentioned are bad conditions, so i would replace them

The main bearing should be smooth rolling, and the grease retaining seals unbroken. If not you will probably have to press it off and find a replacement.

The only items in the rebuild kit I used were a seal, and some O-rings.

I think the shaft looks fine. It is going to be spinning in oil and the splined end looks smooth enough. The shaft spins as long as the engine in on, so if it was too rough it would have torn itself up and shown more wear than that. But I'm not an expert.
