Default Window Control Module -Express Down

Can anyone give me the location of the window control module (express down module) in a 1996 Corvette? I have searched this forum and there are references to it and even pictures of the module, but no location is given. Thanks in advance.

OP - I believe it's in the CCM stack front of the console, lower center dash vicinity.

Get yourself a FSM and you'll have the answers at your finger tips. Diagnostics also.

Express Window Down

Have you gotten in your ZR-1 after driving a later model car and really wished you had an express window function on the window (or windows) of your Corvette? Well you are in luck, it is a pretty simple mod that can be added.

Below I have listed out the connector pigtails you will need as well as the Express module. Most of the connectors can be found on Amazon, Summit or eBay. Unfortunately the only place to find the Express Module is eBay. If you want to cut your harness and add the module you will only need the PT531, the other two allow you to make it plug and play.

This can be done on both windows but what I found on the 1990 is that I needed to disconnect the window motor connector and physically swap the pin locations on the connector for it to work correctly.

I have an image of page 8A-120-0 from a 1996 C4 manual. If you look at the Diagram there are 3 main pieces: Window Switch, Window Motor and Window Module. I felt it is easier just to cut the OEM wires and add one connector But you can follow the wiring to make your plug in harness. I will explain the wiring with one connector.

The PT 531 is the express window connector it has 5 wires, Cavities A,B,C,D,E we will use 4 only ( B is not used)

On the Window switch connector do the following:

Connect D of the switch to C of the Module connector

Connect F of the switch to A of the Module connector

Cut the wire C of the switch

Connect the Switch side of C (one you just cut) to E of the Module connector

Connect the other side of wire you cut to D of the module connector.

*note the 586 and 272 connectors need a couple wires moved to different cavities.

Making it plug and play is just doing the same thing essentially with the male and female Connectors.. For the passenger side just follow what was done on the driverside and swap the pins on the window motor and it will work the same. I have express down on both doors, works great!!
