Default 91 'vert engine sensors

Hi guys,

On my car only the Speedometer, volts and oil temp gauges in the dash work. I have several disconnected plugs & wires, the air pump is disconnected as well as the brake light wiring to the master cylinder. (prior owner swapped engines). I think the temp gauge goes to the pass rear cylinder head - right? The fan control wire goes to the drivers head front area? (both fans run all the time) Also the oil pressure sender, is it located next to the distributor like most small blocks? And it it a one wire connection (think i found the connector but i'm not sure). The car runs fine, doesn't overheat or make odd noises but i'd like to see if the cluster is screwed or if it's just missing sensors.

Thanks
Don

OK let's see if we can start to unravel this a little.

The tach is a white wire plugged into the distributor next to the red battery wire.
Next to the distributor is a "xmas tree" with the oil pressure sensor and also a simple on/off switch for the fuel pump over-ride. (I think 91 still had both). At least the pressure sensor should be there.

You are correct, the temp sensor is on the pass side. The sensor on the driver side is for the aux. fan (in front of the radiator) The ECM uses a sensor on the front of the intake-you're not getting any codes so that's OK. If the fans always run somebody rewired them to do that, it's pretty common. There should be a switch somewhere that was added to control them.

Thanks Tod,

The usual place where the oil pressure sensor should be has been plugged (rather crudely) by the distributor. The plug where the oil pressure sensor should be has one wire and i don't see anything for a fuel pump switch. The "christmas tree" adapter is missing, i think bubba broke it off and plugged it with something and left the wires hanging. lol I have another christmas tree, i'll get the sensor. Looks like a bi*ch to get to also. The tach i think may be a cluster issue, on starting the car it goes full scale and back to zero and doesn't move again (which from what iv'e read is a common '91 cluster issue). I verified it is plugged in the correct place.

a couple of shop pics from the house too.

Thanks again for your help!

Don
