Yes a bad maf sensor can cause a car not to start.. I had it happen to me when I was shopping for a rebuilt maf sensor...I went through 3 rebuilt maf sensors and one was so screwed up it wouldn't even allow my 89 to start..When I disconnected the maf sensor the car started right up ( it ran bad but it did start).. I ended up going with a Blowerworks maf sensor , and after inserting their bin files into me tune the car ran great from then on......WW
You checked for a good spark? What is your fuel pressure? Is it pulsing the injectors?
The spark is orange and i think it‘s weak but other people tell me he must run with the compression i have . ( 10088113 heads ) . I orderd a new distributor but it‘s takes 10 days to arrive . I doubt that‘s the problem because he was running before with the same spark .
The fuel pressure is 47psi and i have pulse .
The last time i stopped the engine the cooland spit out the water neck and hose .The wiring from the maf sencor wiring got wet . Is‘t possibe the 2 relays are dameged ?
Any codes in this thing? A couple of weeks ago, mine wouldn't start.. Would start and run, but ran terrible, kept flashing the check engine light, but no codes.

If the relays at the firewall next to battery got wet with coolant, wouldn't think so since connectors are face down.
I'd take them out and clean/dry them anyway, coolant is nasty.
