1984 C4 Dipstick Depth
Hey all,
In need of advice from seasoned engine builders...measuring and mocking some things up as I gradually assemble this 383; putting in a Lokar flexible dipstick (bought it ages ago so I'm not sure of the part number) and it may be too deep.
It appears to extend 4.5" deeper than the rail/crank centerline, roughly level with the bottom of the oil pump stud (aftermarket). The tube just barely misses a main stud coming in, but those are aftermarket as well of course.
Not sure if this dipstick was intended for use with a stock pan, and unfortunately I do not have the stock dipstick on hand to compare.
The top of the level measurement on the dipstick itself appears to be just below the throw of the crank...maybe it's right about where it needs to be? Wanted to check with those more knowledgeable than myself!
