I'm looking for a book or printable manual online that i can read to teach me about engines specifically the lt1. I am beginning my dive into my car and I've realized i know basically nothing about anything lol. I'd like to learn the specifics about engine building and how everything works, i hear people talking about difference sizes of lifts and different parameters for valves and cams and all sorts of things. Can anyone point me in the direction of a book that can teach me this stuff using the lt1 as it's teaching aid?
fsm is factory service manual i'm assuming? I thought about getting one of those, is there a way to get one sent to email in pdf form or something that i can just printout instead of waiting on shipping? Understanding i'd still have to pay for it but i'd rather it that way so i can start right now lol

What year is your C4? There's differences in various aspects of the LT1. The FSM choice should be for the correct year.

The FSM is probably around 800-ish pages and that does not include any supplemental manuals (electrical) so you will be at kinkos for while and at .05 per page (plus, three hole punch and binder) you will have $400 plus into a $50 book.... Just say'n.
While I appreciate your enthusiasm, a "old school" FSM will be more handy than your computer for looking things up, having out in the garage and letting it rest on your engine while you are elbow deep in a project.
Go to the book store and find some engine building books. I did this when I was 21 and blew a head gasket on my C4. I knew a bit about engines, but had no idea about the fine details dealing with Cams etc... Sometimes I would see something in a book with no definition, and I would hunt down on the internet what it meant.
It kind of started off a thing where I would always go to find some new book, and pour money into building my car. When I fixed the head gasket, only the block and crank were the stock parts left.
800x.05 is 40 bucks, think you did 800x.5, i have a computer in the garage so that will probably be where i have it open at with the ctrl +f function. i am definitely going to do that bill mcdonald, thanks guys for the replies
