Does anyone have a source for the Function Select switches on a 1989? These are the four double throw with center off switches on the instrument panel that select which parameters are displayed on the instrument cluster (like oil temp, oil pressure, avg MPG, etc.). Had the car out for a drive today, and one of them (MPG display) was intermittent.
I might be able to spray some contact cleaner in it, but would like to have a replacement before I disassemble the IP, just in case. I couldn't find any with my Google-Fu today...
I don't think they are available as new parts. I found this DIC (Driver Information Center) on eBay:
I'd suggest this:
Buy a spare unit like the one above. Attempt a repair of your original (taking lots of pictures for the benefit of other C4 owners ) If the repair goes badly, you've got a replacement handy. If the repair is successful sell the backup unit on eBay.
I'm always grateful when people post pictures of the inner workings of these old C4 parts.
If you're shopping eBay for spares OR here I believe you need to be very selective on the DIC you purchase. There seems to be variations of components (best I recall) for various years.
I've never looked @ Batee for interchange but I believe it could be important.
'89 looks to me to be maybe a single year assembly. Swapping components internally? Maybe!
