i was running a little hot this afternoon. Considering the heat index was 105 the 209 on the cooling readout really wasn't that bad but I figured I'd check for debris since temp was about 10 higher than I'd been seeing.
Nothing down at the intake area but I put the borescope in the side of the housing and about a quarter of the radiator was covered in grass.
But while I was down there I noticed the longer outer air cleaner bolts were touching the A/C condenser.
Anyone ever seen this before?
I'm thinking I'll add a couple washers or a short tube spacer to the shafts to back the bolts up a little. Thoughts?

That will work or about 15 seconds on a grinder to reduce the length a 1/4 inch.
Cleaning your radiator will make a difference. This is whatI found when I took a look at my (recently purchased) 89 while doing some maintenance. It was over half covered and it dropped an easy 10-15 after the clean.
Yeah, I saw that picture in another post and it reminded me I needed to do this. Last time I just checked the intake area and found a chunk of wood some leaves and a snickers wrapper. just spraying through the opening in the shroud got it pretty clean. Still want to pull the shroud and really clean it up.
I thought about grinding the bolts but since the tips are there to guide the bolt in, I decided to grab some washers out of my scrounge box.
If you tighten the hold down screws for the air filter too much it will pull the shaft away from the plastic and eventually poke a hole in the a/c condenser, I had to buy a new one due to this.
If you look at the screws you can see where it is pulling out, if it is just tap them back in and don't over tighten, just sung them.

Yes - saw a car one time where the **** and threaded shaft had been drilled and a small diameter roll pin had been inserted. I thought it was a rather unique approach and put it in the back of my mind where it's remained!!
