I have the OBX L98 exhaust on my 90 with long tube headers, at first it did not seem like there was any drone but as time went on it seemed to start droning especially on back mountain roads were you pull lots of grades, on long trips it became unbearable, out on the high way flat and level it was fine. I decided today to add resonance tubes like on the CC mufflers. I fabbed up some tubes and tack welded them in today and took it for a ride it was much improved, I have not yet drilled a hole in the end plate yet I will wait until I take some long back road trips to permanently weld them in and then I may drill some holes were the tubes are welded to the plate.
im trying hard to visualize what you did here and am having a hard time with it. other systems on youtube seem to be a pipe that is welded up in front of the cat.

I have to drill a hole in the end plate were I have the tube tack welded but I like the way it sounds the way it is and it does not seem to be choking the motor in anyway, I will machine some 304 ss for the ends that will look a lot better when I have a chance (winter time).
This is the restrictor I machined to fit in my exhaust which has helped reduce the drone, however what I would really like to try is a Heimholtz resonator but the math is beyond me if anyone would like to help with the calculation I'm keen to try and fabricate one. I believe at least one of the aftermarket exhausts available incorporate the Helmholtz resonator in their mufflers? BB? exhaust tip Removable reducer
