Default 85 No Power, Need help please!!!

Hello,

I know i'm completely crazy but I've got about $12,000 invested in this car in the last 14 months and I'm anxious to get her on the road.

Finally have my engine installed. Looks like everything is wired. I've installed the battery and expected to see power somewhere on the car, dome light , dash, door etc... Nothing ...ive got $%^# nothing.

Brand new optima battery from summit. Where should I start looking? I don't have the hood on, radiator fan or a/c compressor wired.

Is there a fusible link from battery to starter? Would the anti theft system prevent everything from working?

Need some help diagnosing before I send it to a auto electric specialist.

OK the power for your car should come from the Starter if Memory serves it's a Orange wire with a large Eyelet that goes on the Hot Battery Lead at the Starter. then the Fuse-able links are behind the Battery. You may want to run a test Light from battery to block with car in the Run Position in case someone didn't connect the Main Ground to Block.

So where would the main ground to block be located. Is that driver side or the ground next to the starter?

The positive battery cable goes directly from the positive battery terminal to the starter solenoid. The negative battery cable goes directly from the negative battery terminal to a bolt on the side of the block above the oil filter. My '86 has a bunch of ground wires under this bolt. I know that collection of ground wires was moved to a bell housing bolt in later years -- not sure when (my buddy's '89 has this configuration). I believe the early cars had the ground wires under a bolt on the back of the driver's side head. That would be '84 and possibly '85.

So... I've corrected the ground problem. Now the theft/ security system is going off. I've tried various combinations to disarm the system and no luck. I have power to the starter, fuel pump, radio, accessories, but the digital cluster does not light. I have a security light in the center console. Any suggestions???
