My starter is done with. Thinking of changing it myself. I have hooker supercomps on. Will the starter comeout? Do I have to take the headers off? Also what's a good aftermarket starter in case I decide to go with something otherthan GM. Thanks
I'm not sure how your headers look but it has been a common prob with SBCs forever that we had to at least LOOSEN the right side header to get it out. I would rebuild the starter that you have instead of replacing it ..... unless it has solder coming out of the armature or the feilds are burnt up...... Everything else can be repaired easily and cheap. :seeya
I was looking at this while dismantling mine. Looks like you have to loosen the header at least. Also on auto cars the cooling lines run right under the starter, those sure won't be helping the situation.
Great.. :( Iwas hoping to avoid loosening 8 year old headers on aluminum heads, can anyone say stripped exhaust hole threads?
Anyway, thanks for the replies.
