1994 LT1 - coolant recommendation?
I know how stuff works though (like water pumps that don't need lube). If what works for you, works...that's great, keep doing what you're doing, if it treats your soul. But be careful giving that advice to others seeking the facts. You shouldn't have had to make that trip to hell with your car, you don't need to lube your water pump, and the stock cooling system in a C4, when properly maintained is better than good enough under most any condition any of us will encounter.

Here is the radiator on our '05 CTS-V. Car was a "young" 10 years old, ~130k miles. Only had Dex cool in it when I pulled the radiator due to leaking tank to core o-ring.

Here is the radiator on my 'Vette after 23 years, 155k miles...the side tank cracked, so I popped it off to have a look. Ran Dexcool in it. How's it look?

Here is the radiator from my '96 Silverado @ 17 years old and 240,000 miles on it. I hit a cow, munched the original radiator. Pulled the side tank to have a look. Only had dexcool in it. How's it look?

As for running at 220, that may not be "too hot"; the cooling fans don't even turn on until about 230*F. Under what conditions does it run 220*?

I run Dex on both of my 95's and have never had an issue.
