Just finished a new engine install on an 88 L98 and I removed and plugged the cold start valve. Tired of vacuum leaks, etc. etc.
The car is harder to start with it gone (cold).
What can I modify, in the bin file, to help this.
Is it the CRANK FUEL MULTIPLIER VS REFERENCE PULSES chart?
For all ref values 0 to 128 the present multiplier is .996.
Does this control the cold start injector or the other 8?
What is the multiplier and what values would I change it to.
Though I would look at some post 9th injector bin files, but I can only open 32 bins with my tuner program.
Anyone that has been through this, help would be appreciated.
Re: Cold Start Injector - Like to program it out. (dgoodhue)
Yes, its an automatic.
But, with the supercharger, I'm running a very modified bin file.
I'd hate to have to tranfer all the changes over to the 89 code, just for the cold start valve.
Was hoping just make a few more changes to what I have....
may not be possible.
Re: Cold Start Injector - Like to program it out. (Craig Moates)
Looked in the service manual and it does look like the actual cold start valve has its own "wired in" control (not controlled by the ECM).
That makes me wonder even more what this Crank Fuel Multiplier vs. ref Pulses table does.
Can't control the cold start, so it might be the others?
Been driving and tuning the car for about a week and it only takes a little longer to start anyway (I don't drive it in the winter).
After I get everything else straight, I might change this table and see what effect it has.
Right now I'm to busy backing off the spark advance tables...
had my fill of burned pistons for one year
