Default Condenser

Where is a good place to find an air conditioner condenser for my 1996 Corvette? I would certainly appreciate any information that you can send me. I am told that my condenser is leaking. Are there any "mechanics in a can" that can fix this problem. Summer in Alabama is a pain! Thank you for your help

What's leaking? If it's the actual condenser then there is a crack or hole in the metal and no amount of stop leak is really going to help.

If it's leaking at the fittings then all you need are seals.

Autozone shows them in stock for ship to home so a local store should be able to get one.

Default Where is the leak?

Hello,

Depending on where the leak is on the condenser maybe a radiator shop could weld it up for you. The one on my 1988 is all aluminum and that is easily repaired with a TIG or heli arc welder.

I checked ROCKAUTO.com and they are out of stock on that part.

I then checked the ZIP site and they too are out of stock. When they have them they get $350 for a new one. A place in California had them On EBAY for $295 plus free shipping.
For $350 I would seriously consider the option of repairing it. Especially being the middle of the hottest season of the year and the suppliers are out of stock of new replacements.

Take it off and see if you can get it fixed or just bite the bullet and pay for a decent replacement. If buying a new one I would seek out a good quality replacement as it is a pain to swap these out very often.

If you have a leak you can remove it yourself and take to get repaired and put it back on and recharge it. This might be the fastest way to get it cool again, certainly the cheapest.

Good Luck to you down there in the beautiful state of Alabama!

They are outta stock everywhere. I bought the 200 dollar one on summit, never came in stock.

I bought the 300 dollar one on eBay and just installed it. Worth every penny.

Idk wtf is going on with ac condensers but gm is back ordered 8 weeks for the k2 trucks.

Spectra is making more according to summit but the question is when the f will you get it???

get the eBay before it's gone.

Interesting, when I looked yesterday Autozone showed they had them in stock for shipment and it was the Spectra. That may depend on which warehouse is connected to the zipcode you put in for availability.

Add it to your cart then go checkout. It'll say the item is no longer available and has been removed from your cart.

Actually I just tried it. It seems it'll ship soon.

Summit told me most likely Mid august so you're probably good.

summit shows a ship date of tomrrow with a price of 192.00

A real good time to replace all thoise O-ring seals (lightly lubed with A/C oil), too, plus the drier.
