Default 1985 MAT Relocation

Is it worth anything?
Any HP to be gained moving it from the manifold to the incoming air stream from the air box?

according to Richard Newton's book, 101 projects for your Corvette (project 17, relocating the intake air temperature sensor), there is a very slight increase in power with the L98. it's an inexpensive and easy mod. he states, you'll get slightly better power and throttle response because the air temp reading is around 50° cooler at the filter housing that the intake plenum. with the cooler temp reading, the ECM won't be as "eager" to retard the timing. the complete mod is pretty much covered in the book.

personally, no real world experience with this one, so take it FWIW.

I looked at the computer code in my EPROM (BUA), and the ONLY thing the MAT temperature is used for is to enable EGR when the MAT temperature gets over 0.5°. There are a few other conditions, but they are not related to MAT temperature.
