Default Dana 44 Conversion... Questions

I want to swap a Dana 44 into a 1995 vette with a Dana 36 and an A4 in it.

What exactly do I need? Can I use my current half shafts and bat wing? I know the driveshaft and C beam are different, but is that all?

Help...

Yep thats about it. Halfshafts are universal for the C4s. :) Oh yeah.... and the stuff to correct the speedo if you are changing gear ratios.

Actually, you'll need the batwing too. The bolt pattern is different on the pumpkins. The D44 is a little longer as well (about 3/4") which means you'll have to address the driveshaft and C beam length in some manner.

As far as the C beam is concerned, you can reuse yours if you want to re-drill the mounting holes to compensate or just get one from a D44. The driveshaft can be resolved in several ways, the easiest is to get one from a D44 and use your A4 yoke. Other methods involve shortening your driveshaft or grinding out the splines in the front of your yoke so it will slip forward into the tranny a little further.

I didn't want to hassle it so I simply paid a little more and got the right parts. For me, the tradeoff in a few extra bucks was worth not having potential headaches.

Why would you want to put in a stronger rear end anyway? :reddevil :reddevil

That will be all you need to complete the install. Seeing it's a '95...I think you can re-program the speedo with a Hypertech Power Programmer.
