When replacing motor, is it really necessary to remove headlight
assembly from car.
Probably not but pulling a Few Easy to reach bolts and a plug is Easier than working Knee High Head down, Just turn headlights to half open Wrap the painted surfaces remove and work in padded Comfort.

Have you confirmed the motor is bad? A lot of times problems are related to the plastic bushings in the headlight gear that have gone bad, fairly easy job to replace.
