Horn sounds weak

Horn sounds weak in my 95 Vette. Bought the car a few months ago and don't know if that's a normal sound or not.

are both horns functioning? if one is dead, they, or the remaining one will sound weak. refer to your FSM - there seems to be a single relay, and since you do have sound, I would think the relay is good, so basically check 12V and grounds at the horn connection. i haven't seen a C4 yet without horn issues. good news if you have to replace one, the late C4, dual pinout horns are more readily available over the early single pin horns.

I had the same problem on my 95 when I first got it. The horns point downward and both of mine were rusted internally. Used the penetrating oil trick, cleared them out great and haven't had a problem since. Also make sure that you have the correct horns. They are two different notes... driver's side is the low "F" and the passenger side is the higher "A". Together they sound pretty loud to me!

The high tone horn on my 94 was dead. Which made it sound like a sad walrus. I replaced it.

Both horns are working on my 1995 coupe and they do sound weak compared to pretty much every other vehicle I have owned. (As if the horn button placement on the late cars is not bad enough...) So next time the hood is up I'll check their aiming/orientation and wire/ground connection.

I got curious about this "penetrating oil trick" and did some searching...
