Another picture that's worth a thousand words. Any suggestions for temporary fixes until I buy a replacement seat cover? Thanks!
PLEASE don't let yours get this bad before doing something about it. I've let mine go on long enough it's wearing into the foam. If I don't get off my lazy butt and do something soon, I'll need the foam as well.
You should do something before you ruin the foam. Short of spending hundreds of dollars to buy new seat cover material or a pair of Wet Okole seat covers, You could get an old pair of Levis or similar blue denim jeans and cut a patch about an inch wider than the tear area. Insert it into the hole making sure that it overlaps on the inside as even as possible. Then either hot glue it or use super glue to hold it firmly in place. Try not to get any glue on the foam. this should hold you over until you can change the leather covers. BTW, The Last Detail has great service and prices on the seat covers. And it is not that hard to change at home.
How about switching seats til you get ready to go on covers. The passenger side is usually in fairly good shape, and this worn spot is then moved inboard on the other side.
From experience, I can recommend this link. The process is very simple, and the results are "near new". There is no mixing of colors, as the dye provided is factory color. The cost of about $50 for the kit will probably repair 10 areas. The kit contains material for tears and worn areas. It is not necessary to purchase the spray applicator, as the foam brushes will suffice. If you have many repair areas, you can buy extra dye, paste, etc. without purchasing additional kits. The cure time for the paste is temperature sensitive, which means you can speed up the cure time by applying external heat. I found that by placing a drop-light near the work area, the cure time was accelerated. http://www.leatherrepairkits.com/

Re: worn driver's seat (Caboboy)
Consider this.
The matching leather is available in small (or large) quantities. A good upholstery shop can get the leather and replace the worn spot.
If the rest of the seats are in good condition, you may want to look into this.
My Driver side bottom cushion had a huge wear spot at the leading edge (right leg). Local shop got the leather and recovered the bottom cushion for $ 200.
i had a similar problem, so I removed the seat , took it to an upholstery shop, and $100 later they replaced the worn areas, they even matched the colour and the perforations. You own a vette man , ya'gotta spend some now and then, otherwise you might as well use duct tape
