Default Trans slip

Hey..Problem just started..I have a 84 c4 AUTO TRANS with 70,000 miles..While driving yesterday I came to a stop light..When i pulled away tranny started to.slip. I then barely made it home only 2 miles away..Slipping in all gears including reverse..Couldnt break 15 mph..Checked fluid level and no burnt smell with proper color. ..Got up next day and car was fine for about 30 min then same problem. .I then changed fluid and filter and car was fine all night. (About 3 hours of driving) Then today (Sunday) problem returned and barely made it home..Any ideas would help..
THANX

You need to put a pressure gauge on when it is doing this and note pressures in all gears.

Check your TV cable for damage and setting. Should be full tight at WOT.

We can't wave a wand and cure your problem. I suggested you get the pressures checked. Until you do, anything would be a guess. With the wining you describe, it may be your pump is pooched.

That's all you need to know. IF the TV is fine and the fluid level is fine and you didn't shake the filter off.. It's internal and it needs to be rebuilt.

Sorry, bro.

A bad or unadjusted TV cable could cause the trans to slip?
thanx

Absolutely. A misadjusted TV can burn one up.

Depending on who built the trans, a broken cable can also. (There's a ball builders leave out that causes a problem there.)

In post #6, the OP describes reving the snot out of it to BARELY get reverse. I would venture a guess he is beyond a maladjusted TV cable.
