Rebuilding an 87's engine and just took off stock exhaust manifolds. There is no way those things are getting close to my new engine. What are other California drivers doing to pass visual inspection for smog certificate? Those block hugger hot rod manifold/headers with AIR tubes welded on and wrapped in fiberglass might work. The car is 30 years old , it should be on its third completely new exhaust system. Even the guys at Quicky Smog seem to be afraid of any modification. Please tell me my options, i would very much appreciate it.
While that may be good news, these are full length headers and could impact how and where the OEM pre-cats will have to be located to pass a visual test. It's not hard to fab up a Y-pipe to connect to the main cat from the collectors but that still leaves the pre-cats to have to deal with.

Thank you very much for the suggestion and the part number. I would never have found them. They are what I was hoping for. I have dummy precats that clamp on to y pipe and they have worked for years so not too worried about no precats. Thanks again!
What ever headers you put on they MSUT have a California CARB number. Then you will have to have CATS that also have the CARB number on them. No numbers and NO PASS SMOG regardless if the sniffer says your clean.
On cars that are not obd2(1996 up)I don't know if you need the carb certified cats or not. That whole y-pipe assembly with new cats would not be cheap.Sometimes Rock Auto has carb certified cats.I would do some research before buying cats.
