Default Manual Operation

Ok got a dumb question. I know my headlamp bushings are on there way out but I won't have time to replace them till the weekend. If I get stuck at work I might need them. If they do not open electrically can I turn on the lights, open the hood, and use the ***** on top of the motors to crank up the headlamps? If my bushings are totally shot will this work? Thanks!!!

There is a procedure to it. With the lights OFF, open the hood and unplug the motors (both sides) then turn the ***** on the motors. Its a bunch of turns from down to up and you may need to help the assembly flip over. When they're both up shut, the hood and turn them on.

Thanks so much! So with the lights turned off the procedure is: unplug the headlamps, crank the headlamps to the open/up position, plug headlamps back in, close the hood, start the engine, turn the headlamps on, and GO!
I was thinking the headlamps might try to close doing it this way if the bushings have "some" life left in them. Maybe?

Leave the motors unplugged and they won't try to close. The lamps are on a separate plug if they are like mine.

Well ****! This 1992 has only one 5 wire connector to the headlamp assembly. I quess I'll try to switch them open with the headlamp switch. If that is a fail then open the hood ito crank/help them to be in the full open position. I!m afraid if the bushings are to far gone even this won't work? If that is in fact a possibility maybe in an emergency I could flip them up using just my hands and tie wrap the linkage to keep them in the upright open position?
