Thanks! Something I'm trying to think how to do is to restore the black to the inside of the wheel wells. They're faded and I don't think cleaning will fix them-I think they need a repaint. I'm not sure if that's easier to do on or off the car. Suggestions?

thanks will do. What kind of paint would you use in a wheel well? I’m assuming something black lol.

SEM trim black. Clean and scuff them up real good. Then apply a plastic adhesion promoter. Then paint them. I buy the SEM in the quart can and spray it through a paint gun.

that's a really good idea. SEM is expensive but it's good stuff-an upcoming post will show how it's helped my interior look great.

It's pricey when you buy the cans which is why I buy it in quarts. It's much cheaper that way. They have their own reducer which is expensive as well. Many folks, myself included just use acetone. A 50/50 mix works great and thus you end up having two sprayable quarts.

The plastic adhesion promoter is pricey as well but a can of it lasts forever.

Pages 15 and 19 on my thread shows the wheel wells finished.

sorry about the slow replies all of a sudden-my daughter was born a few days ago and my car is on hold for a bit. I’ll get back into it in the next few weeks.

Stunning car, awesome job so far. My 85 has paint issues as well (the clear coat is peeling off). Congrats, glad the car has you for the owner.

Turns out babies sleep a lot. While she was down for a nap today I decided to take the driver door panel off and get some work done.

The vinyl on the door was really faded, so I decided to paint it with SEM. While I was waiting on the paint to dry I fixed the window, which wouldn't roll down. Turns out it was just unplugged! So an easy fix, although it was kinda a pain to plug it back in.

While I had the thing apart I decided to put soundproofing on as well. I used Frost King from Lowes.

The door was in pretty bad shape when I started. It's still not perfect but it's a lot better. I'll do the passenger door soon.

What I started with

Paint in progress

Soundproofing installed

Finished product

Well. I have sad news. I washed the car and took it out to dry. 30 seconds from my house I rounded a bend to see two trucks parked blocking the entire road. I slammed on the brakes but couldn’t stop. So my car is gone. RIP. I got banged up pretty well but they stitched me up and they’re sending me home

A lot looks salvageable though I will be in the market for another c4 soon.

OMG glad you are ok! Your new addition to the family needs you. Cars can be replaced. Hope your recovery time is short. God Bless.

as long as you're all right.

I was just talking with somebody about how thin the floors are on our cars. It's wafer thin panel between our feet and the floor.

it's just a car, furthermore, it's a cheap car. Easily replaced. a wake up call on our mortality now with the new baby under the roof!

sending you some healing vibes from my family to yours.

thank you guys. Love you all. I'll be in the market for another for sure very soon. How hard is it to swap a manual into an automatic? Already looking on Craigslist.
