Default Converi-Coupe

I was looking in the Ecklers catalog at what they call the Converti-Coupe(page 39). Has anyone purchased one of these units or seen one installed on a vehicle? It says it is water tight and uses the stock hardware, is this a quality item that is worth purchasing? The cost is $995.99 alot of money to spend on something that may look a little funky.
Any input would be great.
Thanks
Paul

It's not THAT ugly.. And don't tell people to buy a convertible if they have a NON convertible obviously. that's a pretty poor comment.. "Duh I'm just gonna sell my coupe and buy a convertible now...."

Anyways I have the 1st release of the Convertacoupe that back years ago went for $1495.00. It looks GREAT with the t-tops off, it IS watertight, no leaks or problems, just a slight rettle from the way it secures in the car..
Now the new version is a bit uglier I think as it has 2 'bubbles' to make it seem like a convertible, but some people like it some don't. Mine is flat.
I did have to re-inforce 2 mounts on it with a metal piece, as after use the hard plastic seemed to start cracking.. Just FYI.

And I say again, with the top off (Mine at least) it looks great. With the top ON, the vette looks like a wierd '84 Fiero SE .. :D
Also since my car's modified, I don't use it as I need the targe ON the car or I might twist the frame when racing..
Hmm maybe I'll put mine up for sale sometime...

MrNuke,
Thank you for the information, Do you have a picture that you could possibly E-Mail me so I could get a idea of what it would look like?
Thank You
