Default Please Help

Hi guys, I need some help. I have a 1987 corvette and I took it into a shop that kept it for one year and when I got it back I'm almost certain there are parts missing. I don't know where the hood release handle bezel screws into. I have the carpeted under dash panel but there is no place I can see to affix the four screws that holds the bezel securely in place. In fact from the dash panel back is all open you can see all the wires and hoses. Before I took it in I could've sworn there was another panel that goes behind the carpeted one that the bezel attaches and fits around the actual hood release handle. I am disabled so I just can't go to a wrecking yard or somewhere and look underneath another 87 as I can barely walk let alone bend. Any help on this matter would be highly appreciated. I have turned this mechanic into the BAR ( bureau of automotive repair) and it is still under investigation. Thank You

As stated in the thread where does the hood release bezel fasten to with the four screws, is there a panel or something?

The hood release screws into a bracket that's just behind/above the carpeted panel. It's to the left of the steering column and is difficult to see. If you have a problem bending over you may be able to feel the hole that release handle goes into.

There is a black hush panel that fits from the carpeted panel all the way back to the firewall. It has a courtesy light in it and is held in with screws. I hope that was all clear enough.

I've had/have my problems similar to you so I really get it. Still have some problems but better. Best to you.

Thank you very much. I am missing the black plastic hush panel, I knew something wasn't there that was supposed to be. Anybody know where I can pick one of those hush panels up? Thank You and GOD Bless

The best place to find this would be at the shop that took it off. Reading between the lines, it appears they had it to do some work(1 year ???) and gave it back to you in a different condition than you gave it to them. Maybe look into having a lawyer send them a friendly "reminder" if you have exhausted all other avenues.

Thank You, will consider that option after the Bureau of Automotive Repair is finished with their investigation.

There are some places that specialize in Used Corvette Parts. Two places that come to mind are Vette2Vette and Taber Corvette Parts. A little Google searching is likely to yield more. I would suggest calling that type of place first - they are far more likely to understand what you are looking for and to actually have it.

GOOD LUCK !!!

Where are you located? Someone in your area may have the part you're looking for or be parting out a C4.

You can also contact Marc at Marc@Vettenuts.net, he may have everything you need as he parts out a lot of cars.

Good luck... GUSTO
