96 Idle problem

Default 96 Idle problem

okay my car Idles About 900 Rpm and everytime I stop my Rpms stay at 1200 for a sec and goes back to 900 and sometime it Idle rough does anybody have any idea what it could it be :confused:

Some things to look at are the throttle position sensor (tps) and the idle air control motor (iac). These are basically what control idle as I understand. Search for threads about these and study them. Good luck. The other thing that can effect idle speed is a vacuum leak so you can search about those but I wouldn't expect that if your idle settles down like you said. 900 seems a little high for idle too tho.

We could use a little more info as well. Is the car stock, modded, reprogramed? My car does this as well, but it was programed to do so to compensate for the loss of vacuum because of the Hot Cam. It was very annoying at first so I had it set to drop a little quicker.
