AFAIR i read many times here on forum that some guys experienced troubles with their car about hood lights, especially one side dimmed while the other side is properly working.

Yesterday i've fixed it right...i've find out the problem was the brackets that get in the mercury switch and the bulb. They were too loose.
I've just squeeze them a lot after had removed and reinstalled bulb and switch
Suspect that there was a bad ground or bad electrical connection

If pinching the connectors together a little fixed your issue then you had a poor connection. Only comment would be do it carefully as some of these seem to be a little brittle and can easily break.
Another problem is oxidation of the mercury switch. Mine weren't working but I cleaned the switches and they came back to life. Also went to LEDs while I had them apart.
