Default Switched power source

1989 Vette. Looking for an ignition controlled power source under the dash, that's easy to access, and has sufficient load capacity to power a couple of add on electric gauges. Thoughts anyone?

Thanks!

You should have a harness under the center console that has a always hot wire, ignition controlled hot wire and a ground wire. The two hot wires are rated for 10A each.

I don't think for the OP's '89. I thought that came later. I'd like to be wrong here! '91 maybe same as the DAB (Delayed Accessory Bus) I thought.

Electric meter movements and sensors should only use mili-amps.

Nope - '91 for sure.

ORANGE wire fused w/B CONV that includes Cigar lighter different wire(HOT ALL TIMES), PNK/BLK fused separately as I CONV(HOT IN RUN). Both fuses are in the AUX 2 BOX. I actually looked to be sure. I'm quite sure it's in the '91 Owners Manual also.

Saw mine when I took that area apart for some reason or other.

I was just going to ask if the radio power feed had sufficient current to suffice. If it worked for you, probably does. Thank you!

The radio power circuit will be hot in both run and accy positions. I doubt that would be the best for addl. gauges. I'd think you would want hot in run position only. Try your feed wire for ignition (probably pink), turn signal flasher, back-up lamp switch, or rear window defogger switch. Those wire colors for your car unknown to me.
