Default ODB I reader for my 1992

My 1992 has been running great, but twice the 'service engine soon' indicator has come on for a few minutes then gone off. I have an ODB II reader I use for my other cars, what do I need to connect it? Not familiar with ODB I and if different makes had different plugs, etc. Also, how helpful will the information be that comes back?

I just use a short piece of wire to read the codes. To be honest though, the only code I have brought up on my 92 after checking codes were for the EGR, it only happened at high speeds. I have been trying to learn how to connect my pc to it but haven't had much luck yet, but for reading the codes, a paperclip or a short wire works fine.

Do you have a laptop? If so for a little money you can buy an OBD I USB cable and use TunerPro or buy TunerProRT.

I spend a lot of time working with control systems for power and petrochemical plants ( http://new.abb.com/control-systems ) so this is right in my wheelhouse, thanks!

Looking around for the correct cable, the best deal I can find is about $60, is that about what you think it should be?

Even the Factory Service Manual says to jumper pins A to G and then read the codes off of the speedo display.

I used the paper clip method and it came back with H63 and H64 in the ECM which I guess correspond to "Right Oxygen Sensor Circuit Open" and "Right Oxygen Sensor (Right Bank Lean)". My plan is to drive the car a bit more since it only has a couple hundred miles after sitting for 10 years, then try to troubleshoot this. Should I start with the O2 sensor? This car has newly rebuilt OEM sized Bosch III injectors and runs great so I don't think it is a fuel issue.

I would first look at the wire going to the O2 sensor. It could be as simple as the sensor being bad, but the wiring could also be an issue if it is in contact with the exhaust. The right bank O2 sensor was a pain for me to remove in my '92. My right bank O2 sensor was slow and kept the car from ever going into closed loop mode.
