Default 85 throttle body question

I replaced the throttle body on my 85 from the 48mm stock to a 52mm from Summit Racing. I haven"t adjusted the TPS yet. I've been reading that you want to adjust it to .54volts. Does this hold true for the bigger bore? Thanks for any help.

No, there is no difference and you will adjust it the same to the .54.

Doesn't make any difference 48 or 52....as noted above adjust to .54 volts at idle. This reading is telling the computer the position of the TB blade at idle.

Thanks for the info. Hoping the new throttle body, a smooth bore induction tube and coolant bypass will make it more responsive.

Hate to throw cold water on your parade but a larger TB bore will do almost nothing for your car unless you do intake work, do head work, headers and larger pistons. 48 cm are more than enough for the CFM of air needed for a stock engine. You larger bore (with no engine modifications) is over kill.

Suggestion... since you just joined, please consider throwing up your plans on the board and letting members who have tried different combinations (with both success and failures) before you spend money. I guarantee that everything that you are considering has been tried before.

This board has saved me lots of money and time.

Good luck!

The old TB was giving me some performance issues. Just took it out and it runs a lot better with better throttle response. Makes me happy. The previous owner didn't take very good care of it and I am putting out fires as they occur. Thanks again for the info and I'm sure I'll be checking in again.
