Default Water Pump Temp Sensor Connector

When I pulled the water pump the sensor had no connector housing, just two pins sticking out. SO I ordered part number 15326386.

Thats when I found that the sensor is oval but my connector is round. Looks like someone cut down a sensor so the connector would go on.

My conclusion is that like other connectors on the 92s this one is different from later LT1s and I'll need to update the connector to match the sensor.

Anyone done this?

I don't believe you should have found any need to do a connector IF the sensor would have been original and correct. I'd say something was compromised on the car by someone.

That CTS has been used for many years and always configured like the GM# 15326386 you bought.

I'd be interested to see the connector you removed.

Were the wire colors what would have been expected?

The wires were what I expected black and yellow
i opened the harness back to the junction by the throttle body and there were no signs of wire repair
I’ll post a pic tonight

this wouldn’t be the only case of a different part on a 92
the Opti to main harness uses a 1 year connector
the surge tank hose is a 1 year

Well, I went out to the shop to take pictures of the connector and sender and noticed something odd. The sensor had a inside shape like the 15326386.

Then I looked at the pigtail and realized it was actually the correct cable side connector with the clip missing and the plastic from the sensor glued to it.

It's hard to see but there is black RTV applied to glue the thing to the sensor, which by the way failed.

Looks like you found the problem. I would replace both the sensor and the connector.
