Default Code 36

OK those of you that have followed my list of problems will recall my new acquisition (88 C4) will recall I complained about that on start up the revs would go up and down between 3000 and 21000 rpm.
And have read various suggestions (gratefully received) I replaced the idle air control valve, clean the throttle body replaced the Throttle Position sensor and set them all correctly , I also tried disconnecting the cold start injector but to no avail.
I discovered that I had a code 34 indicating the MAF 'may' be a problem, after looking at various methods to test on You Tube I found one that suggested start the car and with it running disconnect the MAF and if the car stalls its working fine BUT if there is no change the MAF is at fault.
WEEELLLL I did this and no change so I purchased a new MAF installed it and the problem went away......BUT....................
NOW it idles at 1300 rpm and I have a code 36 , according to my book it could be the MAF burn off circuit problem, because of this I thought I would replace the relays but where the hell are they ?
Also any other suggestions would be welcome.

When you turn the car off you should hear a click. That is the maf burn off relay. You can verify it working by disconnecting the front of the maf from the air box and looking down it in the dark when someone else turns the car off. You will see the wire in the maf glow. I forget which relay is the burn off one, I’d have to look in the FSM.

To save Cliff a post, here's a thread covering this pretty well.

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...e-36-help.html

Thanks again Cliff!

I've been chasing code 36 forever myself. Don't replace your MAF right away, run through checking the voltages and so forth, could be a simple wire problem or a relay.

Also, be careful selecting a new MAF if needed, many are shown as OEM compatible but don't have a burn circuit! It is possible to get around that by getting code 36 check turned off.

Good Luck!
