Reach up from under the car just below the marker light. The socket will twist out of the housing where you can pull the bulb out of the socket from below the car. Then simply twist the socket back into the housing. This is what the socket looks like.
Be careful removing the socket, sometimes they get really stuck on there. I broke one during removal. I now spray them with WD 40 to help loosen them up. Upon re-installation I use some Die-Electric grease on the socket so I don't have to fight it next time.
My car is a 1988 Coupe and I have a suspicion that I was the first to replace the bulb back there. I wish the new bulbs were half as good as the original bulbs were.
Thinking about replacing mine with led when they go out. I use dielectric grease not only the electrodes but on rubber parts to help seal out moisture and make it easier to remove the next tume.

How do I remove and replace the bulb for the rear side turn signals?
If you are expecting to see the rear side lights blink as a turn signal, you are mistaken. The red should come on with your tail lights, and the white is a "back-up" light. There are no rear side turn signals.
