Started smelling it every now and then. Here are some pics. Just thought I'd ask before take stuff off. Weird, because I used felpro gaskets when I changed the valve cover gaskets, in may 2014.
This is how my fingers got when I put them where valve cover meets the head, on the left side.
I don't know why oil comes out of there. The bolt is tight.

which fel-pro gaskets did you use? VS50443R are for the 93-96 composite valve covers and are supplied with sealing (washer) gaskets for the mounting hardware. when you say the bolt is tight, are they torqued to spec? (106 in.lbs.) I've found in most cases, over-torqueing VC hardware causes leaks.
On my car someone replaced the gaskets and rear of gasket fell out of groove on both sides. Surprisingly there wasn't a major leak. You might try to use a mirror to be sure it's just seepage.
I wouldn't worry about it, they all seep/weep eventually. Just keep it clean under there all you can do man.
That's what I do for the most part. But when I popped the hood to clean it, I saw oil on the head, right under the valve cover. I'll just remove it, see what's up.

I've seen that happen before. I'll check it with a mirror.

I can see where that's a common problem with center bolts. I highly recommend this stuff -
been using it for years . basically, it's not a sealing goop, but a mild adhesive that will hold the gasket in place during assembly. works great on center bolt valve cover gaskets. just spray a light coat on the gasket and position it on the VC. holds perfectly while positioning the VC's to the cylinder heads.
I replaced the gasket with one from Chevy. I used a 3m spray before laying the gasket. Put it in the groves correctly. Drove it today, let the engine cool down. Just check where it was leaking previously, and it still is.
I did notice when I had the valve cover off, it had the slightest crack. Would that be causing it leak? Only pissed because the valve cover didn't always leak.
Will do. And it's not even visible unless you take the valve cover off. It has the crack where the gasket goes, again super small crack. But I figured the new gasket would stop the leak.
I guess I forgot to wipe what was there before. Driven the car about 50 miles, and put my fingers where it leaked previsouly. No leaks Still, if it leaks I'll keep you guys updated.
