I bought a 52 mm Edelbrock TB and when I went to install it realized my accordion is too small for it. I'm searching for alternate ideas besides butchering my stock accordion. I searched through Home Depot for something to use and the only 2 things that I can work with are orange safety cones and vinyl flooring, but the vinyl flooring has a paper backing so I can't melt it together without burning it up. What have some of you other guys done to make your bigger TBs work?
i first made a mold out of sheetmetal( a cone), then i overlayed a carbon fiber sheet over it using epoxy. when that had cured i removed the sheet metal mold and trimmed up the ends. i then used the thin black neoprene weatherstrip inside the ends for a gasket. they look cool and very high tech, plus they offer a smooth air passage.
A hair dryer works good to soften the plastic. Mine is installed on a BBK 58mm. Heated it from the inside for a couple of minutes and wiggled it on without too much hassle. If you remove the Mass Air, a 3" piece of schedule 10 pvc pipe, 6-8" long, replaces easy.
