Melting Slicks
It's a Bear to do no matter how you do it, and that stuff is full of Heavy Metals so don't spread it around or breath it. Not to rain on your day but Doesn't Connecticut have one of the More PITA Emission's Standards if they could Measure a Difference

Are they clogged or something somehow got there or is there a good reason for that trouble?

Cut 'em. Cut 'em off. Cut them and don't look back.
Put a pipe in there and replace your cat with a new performance version.
Your car will wake up.

Thanks for the reply's guys.I found a Y pipe without the cats on Summit racing sight for a cheap price. The reason I want to get rid of the precats is to lower the under hood temps and maybe gain some more power.I am running a full roller 400 small block.Thanks.Steve
