Default lowering

ok, i have a lowering kit but have been reluctant to install it because i don't want to be continually bottoming it out, however after looking at my doctored sig. pic i'm convinced that i have to do it, here's my question, does everyone remove the plastic air dam from under the nose so that it doesn't hit everything? or do all these lowered cars constantly rub the road?

the front doesnt actually come down too low at all unless you switch to coilovers and adjust the height. It comes down just enough to close the gap in the tire well.

The front spoiler gets hurt only on the worst of inclines or angles, not really much more than at the stock height. Just back into all parking spots if you dont feel comfortable, and drive out of parking lots carefully. Its black rubber which flexs, the most that usually happens is scratches.

If you remove the front air-dam the car could overheat. The air-dam routes air to the radiator.

Leave on the air dam. Just a note... Mid America is selling the 3 piece air dam for $40 bucks in the new catalog. I think I'll grab myself a spare..

If you lower the rear a little more than the front to take out some of the rake the car will effectively pivot around the front wheels which will offset some of the lowering of the front end up by the air dam.

I only lowered the rear of my '88 by about 1 1/4" and now the air dam has a little more clearance than with stock ride height.

They are actually pretty soft. I cut 3/4 of an inch off mine to clear the driveway and it didn't affect the cooling at all. Can't even tell I cut some off.
