Hello out there!
Scariest thing yesterday. The throttle on my 94 stock C4 stuck at around 50 MPH going around a curve trying to slow down for an upcoming stop light. Put it in neutral and it was revving at around 4 grand. Hit the gas pedal and pumped the brakes and it calmed down and didn't happen again for the short ride home. Worried about when the wife drives it and this happens again. Question: where should I start looking for culprits? Owned this car for about 6 months and this is the first time this happened.
Sounds like the throttle body got stuck. Pretty common and pretty easy to fix.
You will need to clean out your throttle body and make sure that the buttery moves freely. Also check your return spring, it could have gotten out of alignment.

Check the cables both ASR and throttle, be sure your floor mat is not interfering. When checking the return assembly be sure the cables are in there respective tracks (groves)
How many miles? check for play in the throttle plate rod bearings.
